February 27th-first ultrasound

Since I thought I was only 3 weeks pregnant, I wasn't able to get an appointment at the OB/Gyn until mid-march. I was worried and anxious, so they let me come in for an ultrasound and it turned out that we were 7 weeks along! I got to see the little blob (smaller than a grain of rice at that point) pulse with a viable heartbeat!!! It was really amazing and made it seem so much more real. The technician said everything looked great and I was so relieved.

February 21st-the test

So I had been feeling a little bit weird for a few weeks, and was revolted by the spinach on the normally delicious Famous Grandma pizza at Cinelli's that we got on Wednesday. I called in sick to work because I just felt, well, weird. On a whim, I decided to take the pregnancy tests that Linh, my study coordinator for a vaccine trial, had given me when I told her we were going to try to get pregnant in the winter. Even though it made sense, I was pretty shocked when the second line turned pink. I had to call Biff on the bus on his way to give a presentation at school-luckily it got rescheduled! I had to run out and buy a second test to confirm, and it was postive too! We thought we were about 3 weeks (gestational age 1 week) at that point, and since the tests were the early kind, it seemed logical. I remember the date because Biff was supposed to get student Iron and Wine tickets that day for the April 15th concert, but needless to say he was a little distracted and by the time we tried to get them, they were all gone.
